1. About these terms
These Terms of Use describe use of the Dotify app and this website. “Dotify,” “we,” and “us” refer to Yan Wen, the app’s developer. Contact details and support are available on our contact page.
The app is licensed under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA), which applies to Dotify’s App Store distribution. These terms explain the app’s operation and optional services; they do not replace the Standard EULA. If these terms conflict with the Standard EULA on licensing matters, the Standard EULA controls. Mandatory consumer rights always apply.
2. What Dotify does
Dotify is a personal logbook for occurrences, measurements, and time periods. You choose what to record and can review, edit, delete, or export records. The app supports optional reminders and optional iCloud sync with eligible Pro access. Local recording and history do not require a subscription or a separate Dotify account.
Dotify is a memory and recordkeeping tool. It is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, emergency service, or professional advice service. Manual sleep entries describe the time in bed you enter, not objectively measured sleep. Do not rely on Dotify for critical reminders or decisions where an error could cause harm.
3. License & acceptable use
You may use the app on compatible Apple devices as permitted by the Standard EULA and Apple’s usage rules. You must comply with applicable law and respect others’ privacy and intellectual property. Do not misuse the website, attempt unauthorized access, disrupt services, or use the app to violate another person’s rights.
Dotify’s software, design, branding, and website content belong to their respective rights holders. You retain ownership of your own entries. Recording information does not transfer ownership of that information to us.
4. Pro subscriptions & payments
Dotify may offer monthly and annual auto-renewable Pro subscriptions through Apple’s in-app purchase system. Available features, subscription duration, the price in your currency, and any eligible offer are shown in the app and Apple’s purchase confirmation before you buy. We do not quote a fixed price here because availability and pricing vary by storefront.
- Payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm a purchase, subject to any offer shown by Apple.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple may charge your account for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account’s subscription settings or at Apple’s subscription management page. Cancelling normally leaves access available until the current paid period ends, subject to Apple’s terms and applicable law.
- If a free trial or promotional offer is available, its duration and renewal terms are displayed before confirmation. An unused trial portion may be forfeited if you purchase a subscription where Apple’s rules provide for that.
- Deleting Dotify, deleting entries, or disabling iCloud does not cancel a subscription.
- Use Restore purchases in Settings → iCloud & purchases to ask Apple to restore eligible purchases for your Apple account.
Apple handles billing and refund requests. You can request an eligible refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Refunds and price-change notices follow Apple’s terms and applicable law. Local logbook recording and history remain accessible without an active Pro subscription.
5. iCloud & third-party services
Optional sync requires an eligible Pro purchase, an available Apple iCloud account, compatible device settings, sufficient iCloud storage, and connectivity. Apple’s service terms govern iCloud and the App Store. Availability and synchronization timing depend on Apple’s services, your account, and your connection.
Changing the sync setting takes effect after you close and reopen Dotify. Disabling sync does not itself delete stored records. Keep your own exports or backups before making important changes. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, immediate sync, or recovery of deleted data.
6. Your records, exports & reminders
You are responsible for the information you enter, the security of your device and Apple account, and the copies you export or share. Review dates, units, and values for accuracy. JSON exports contain private entries and notes and should be stored carefully. The current app supports export but does not include an import or restore workflow.
Deleting an entry or a tracker can permanently remove history. When iCloud sync is enabled, deletions can propagate to other devices. Previously exported files and device backups are separate copies. See the Privacy Policy’s deletion section for details.
Reminders are optional and depend on notification permission and iOS delivery behavior. Device settings, Focus modes, system limits, time-zone changes, or other conditions can delay or prevent delivery.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains device storage, optional iCloud sync, purchases, reminders, exports, support correspondence, and website requests. You do not have to grant notification permission or enable iCloud to use local logging.
8. Updates, availability & ending use
Features may change through app updates. We may maintain, change, or discontinue website or optional service functionality, subject to applicable law, Apple’s terms, and any obligations for purchases already made. The app may require a compatible version of iOS or iPadOS.
You can stop using Dotify at any time. Manage subscriptions separately through Apple and delete device, cloud, export, and backup copies as needed. Ending the software license is governed by the Standard EULA.
9. Warranties, liability & your rights
The Standard EULA sets out the app’s applicable warranty and liability terms. To the extent permitted by law, this website and optional services are provided as available, without a guarantee of uninterrupted operation or error-free records. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded, or limits mandatory consumer protections, statutory warranties, or refund rights.
We do not impose a separate mandatory arbitration clause or choose a new governing jurisdiction through this page. The Standard EULA and applicable law govern the relevant rights and remedies.
10. Changes & contact
We may update these terms as Dotify changes. The revised terms and effective date will be posted here. Where applicable law requires notice or agreement to a material change, we will provide it before the change takes effect.
For app support, billing guidance, or questions about these terms, visit Contact & support. Apple is not responsible for providing support or maintenance for Dotify.
