1. Who we are & what this covers
Dotify is a personal logbook for iPhone and iPad. This policy explains how information is handled in the Dotify app and on this website. “We” and “us” refer to Yan Wen, the developer of Dotify. For privacy questions or requests, use our contact page.
Dotify does not require a separate account. Your logbook is stored on your device, with optional sync to your private iCloud database. We do not operate a server that receives your logbook entries.
2. Information the app handles
- Your records: tracker names, categories, units, entries, dates, recording time zones, measurements, durations, ratings, and notes you choose to enter. Existing records from earlier Dotify versions may remain in local storage and be included in exports.
- Your preferences: appearance, calendar style, reminder rules, notification permission, and iCloud sync settings.
- Purchase information: Apple’s StoreKit provides product and transaction information, such as the purchased product, verification status, and subscription expiration, to confirm access to Pro features. Apple processes payments; we do not receive your card or bank details.
- Technical status: the app checks network availability, iCloud account availability, and sync status to operate those features. It does not ask for your Apple account password.
We do not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, track your activity across other apps or websites, sell personal information, or use entries for advertising or AI model training. The app does not access HealthKit, contacts, your photo library, microphone, or precise location.
3. How information is used
The app uses your records to display your logbook, search and filter history, calculate summaries and activity calendars, prepare exports you request, and schedule optional reminders. Preferences configure the app; verified purchase information determines Pro eligibility. We do not receive the contents of your local logbook through these operations.
If you contact us, we receive the information you send, such as your email address, message, and any attachments. We use it to respond, troubleshoot, and handle privacy requests. Your private entries are never attached automatically. Please share only what is needed and remove private content from screenshots.
4. Optional iCloud sync & Apple services
If you choose to enable iCloud sync with eligible Pro access, Dotify uses Apple’s CloudKit service and your Apple account to synchronize app records through your private iCloud database. This sends records, including notes and any sensitive information you enter, to Apple for storage and synchronization. The developer does not receive a separate copy of that private database. Local logging works without iCloud.
You can turn sync off in Settings → iCloud & purchases, then close and reopen Dotify to apply the change. Turning sync off stops app synchronization after restart; it does not itself delete data already stored in iCloud or on another device.
Apple operates iCloud, the App Store, device backups, and purchase processing under its own Privacy Policy and applicable service terms. Apple may also process diagnostics if you enable sharing through your device settings. We do not add an independent analytics or crash-reporting service.
5. Reminders & permissions
Reminders are optional and off by default. The app requests notification permission when you enable a reminder. Reminder rules are used to schedule local notifications on your device; notification text is generic and does not include your private entry notes. Apple controls delivery and lock-screen presentation.
You can change or remove reminders in tracker settings and revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Dotify. Declining permission does not prevent logging or viewing your entries.
7. Retention & deletion
App records: records stay on your device until you delete them or remove the app and its local data. You can delete individual entries in History, or open a tracker’s settings and choose Delete tracker to remove that tracker, its history, and its reminders. Deletions are permanent within the app.
iCloud: if sync is enabled and working, record deletions synchronize through iCloud. To remove synced records, delete them while sync is enabled and allow synchronization to finish on connected devices. You can also manage Dotify’s stored iCloud data in your Apple account’s iCloud storage settings, where available. Removing the app or disabling sync alone does not erase cloud copies. Backups and previously exported files must be managed separately.
Support: we retain correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your request and related follow-up, unless a longer period is required by law. You may ask us to delete correspondence through the contact page. We cannot access or delete records stored only on your device or in your private iCloud database for you.
Website records: hosting providers may retain routine access and security logs according to their service settings and retention policies. We do not maintain a separate visitor analytics database.
8. Your choices & privacy rights
You can review and edit records in the app, export them from Settings → Export logbook, delete entries or trackers, disable reminders, and turn off optional sync. There is no separate Dotify account to close. Ending a subscription and deleting data are separate actions.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, or obtain a copy of personal information we hold, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a local privacy authority. Contact us to exercise these rights for support correspondence or other information we actually hold. We may ask for proportionate verification before acting. Exercising privacy rights does not affect your ability to use local logging.
9. This website
This website uses no analytics scripts, advertising pixels, cookies, local storage, or embedded third-party media. The site uses system fonts and serves its own visual assets. Following an external link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.
As with other websites, its hosting provider may process your IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time to deliver pages, prevent abuse, and maintain security. These technical requests do not include your app entries. Hosting, Apple services, and email delivery may process information outside your country under their applicable safeguards and terms.
10. Children & sensitive records
Dotify is a general-purpose personal logbook and is not directed specifically to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through support. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it.
You choose what to record. Exercise, sleep, and free-text entries can contain sensitive information. They are handled through the same device storage and optional iCloud features described above. Dotify does not measure sleep or provide healthcare services.
11. Security & policy changes
Dotify relies on iOS app storage protections and, when enabled, Apple’s iCloud infrastructure. Protect your device, Apple account, and exported files. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
We may update this policy when features or privacy practices change. The current version and effective date will be published on this page. Material changes that require consent will be presented for consent before the relevant processing begins.
